Ever since, I've continued the tradition of hiding the shoes in my room, leaving a note for my Kinders from a leprechaun informing them that the shoes are somewhere in the room, and leaving evidence that there was a leprechaun in the room the night before (shamrocks all over, "irish" names on their desks, flipped over furniture, etc.). At the end of the day, the shoes disappear and gold coins are placed on their desks along with a note from our leprechaun thanking us for finding his shoes. The kids LOVE knowing that a leprechaun friend has stopped by. The leprechaun always "leaves" activities for the students to do all day long on this special day.Andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18348142304801992834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1882509323719452824.post-35061127918518370432013-02-18T10:48:06.727-06:002013-02-18T10:48:06.727-06:00My third graders loved making the lucky shamrocks ...My third graders loved making the lucky shamrocks last year. Then I leave little green 'footprints' all over the desks, bookcases with my palm of my hand on the side dipped in paint and a few finger prints next to it. So they see the tracks left behind. We do lots of other fun things too, I will be posting them. :o)
~vicky
Traditions Laughter and Happily Ever After vicky1970https://www.blogger.com/profile/09786884128105747624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1882509323719452824.post-15968773251491371502012-02-20T13:20:12.549-06:002012-02-20T13:20:12.549-06:00Your unit looks fabulous!

The kid's reactions are priceless.

One year, as the kids were cleaning up the mess the leprechaun had left, one little girl comes running up to me and yells, "The leprechaun is girl! She left her hair ties on the floor!!"

Apparently, one of my kids (from that year or year's past??) had left their hair ties on the floor and no one had noticed or bothered to pick them up. All of my kids were convinced the leprechaun was a girl. I tried very hard not to laugh. It was really cute.

~AndiAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15275938936467242433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1882509323719452824.post-25236538928864693782012-02-20T12:43:21.729-06:002012-02-20T12:43:21.729-06:00Mine is our science unit on inventors that I did w...Mine is our science unit on inventors that I did with my K's last year. The week before St. Pat's, we learned all about inventors and how they come up with inventions and then we invented leprechaun traps! They spent all afternoon creating and then we *almost* caught the naughty little leprechaun who tried to steal our gold. :)Ms. Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09772753780123864546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1882509323719452824.post-38280668156074187022012-02-20T12:03:27.374-06:002012-02-20T12:03:27.374-06:00I love the 4-leaf clover idea! My favorite St. Patrick's day activity is to have the students design leprechaun traps the day before St. Patrick's day, then the morning of the leprechaun (ie me!) trashes the room and leaves the kiddos some "gold" coins.
