Teacher tip of the week! I am always looking for new ways to encourage great line and hallway behavior! Over the years, I have found several hallway songs that I thought were adorable, but I would always forget the songs when the time would come to line up. To keep all of my songs in one place, I made a "Line Up Sing Alongs" book! I found cute cardstock, printed my favorite line up songs on each page, then put them on a large ring that I hang on the door handle. My line leader gets to pick the line up/hallway song of the day! Good songs, good times, good line.
**Update** Here are some of my faves for those of you who wanted some of the songs! Think "disco era" for many of these!

I would love to see some of the songs too! I am about to start my senior year of college and will graduate in May with a PK-6th grade teaching certificate. I am so excited to student teach and hopefully be setting up my first classroom next summer! I already love so many of the ideas that you have shared on here. I too am in the process of setting up a "teacher" blog that I will be able to share resources on and document my journey through student teaching so be on the lookout for it!

My favorite you shared is the one to the Tune of Tiny Tim. I have twins who just finished first grade. Their teacher had a song for every occasion. My kids loved it!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter remembers and can sing a song about patience. I know there's a similar song tune, but I can't think of it. Here's the words.

And think of all the times when others have to wait on you
I love your blog! These songs a perfect for lining up. My line up song is set to the tune of frere jacques and goes with the "Give me five" behavior management.

I just found your blog and I can't handle all of the cuteness! I'm a K teacher in NC and I'm loving your ideas!! I just bought 3 containers of metal book rings for this exact purpose, but I was just going to print them on boring old index cards. Now I have to go out and get some cute scrapbook paper! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your ideas for line up chants. I teach Kindergarten, and they love the chants. We made our own beats and gestures along with the songs. I have the line leader choose the song for the hall, and they love the My Boogie Shoes version. Thanks again!

ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you for the line up song idea! I teach 3&4 yr olds on Wednesday nights for choir, crafts, storytime and we move classrooms. Since I only have them once a week, it is sometimes hard to keep them in a line without pushing, running, etc. :-) This would occupy their minds & bodies to enable a FUN line! I will add hand motions since they are preschoolers but I LOVE the idea and the cheat sheet cards. THANK YOU! I've been racking my brain for a better way then how I have been doing it. :-) I love your blog. So many creative ideas to encourage the love of learning.
