Flying Saucers

What's that in the math station tub?  A bird?  A plane?  It's a UFO!  One of the "alien addition" themed activities this week is Flying Saucers!  The kids have a bucket full of 20 flying saucers {really they are those 25 cent machine prize pods}  and they choose a saucer, read the addition fact inside, then solve the problem on their recording sheet!  Just something a little different from the old math worksheet!  Parents, please keep working with your first grader on doubles (to 20), doubles +1 (to 20), and addition facts to 10!  If anyone has fun ideas or things you have tried for home practice with addition, please share!!!

    Yes, I wrote the 50 Just Right Graphic Organizers book. I am glad you like it. I am working on a new one now, 20 Super Spelling Centers. Working on professional books is not as fun as creating for TPT (I describe the graphics to the artists, instead of arranging clip art myself), but it is more profitable and so cool to google yourself. LOL

    Thanks so much for the feedback, my friends! A little tip if you want to make your own saucers: Ebay sells those prize pods in packs of 100 for super cheap (like $1)! That way, you won't have to go buy a whole bunch of junk out of those 25 cent machines! Just sayin.

    These are so adorable! What a creative concept! I've used bottle caps with my 4th graders to practice math facts. Here are two different formats:
