A Pair of Pears...
.
First graders can be busy bees...which is perfect, because this week the kids were very busy learning all about homophones! After using our fancy new Smartboard {LOVE it} to introduce this exciting and tricky new skill--we made pairs of homophone pears! Each child was given a homophone pair, and they had to write each word correctly in a sentence, then draw a small picture to go with each word. I was so proud of the work they did on these! {Sugar cookie with icing and sprinkles awards for everyone--I think so!}

So cute! Have you read "Dear Deer". I'm not sure who the author is, but it's such a cute book for this very topic! I love the pear idea Sarah! You always amaze me!

Thank you for this fabulous idea! I'm getting ready to use it this week!
Thank you for this wonderful idea! My kiddos are going to make their pairs of pear homophones this week!
This is excellent! I love it. I'm adapting it a little, to make them into a book for us to use at our small reading groups. I'll add in blank pages, so we can add more homophones as we find them!
You are a genius! I created a memory game out of your pear idea! My kiddos love it! Thanks for all your wisdom!
I absolutely love this idea and am so going to use it to help teach about homophones this week! Thank you for the inspiration!
Are homophones in First Grade Common Core? If so which one?
