Super /ir/ /er/ /ur/ Girl!

This super girl (I think I'll name her Fern) is flying into our classroom this week to teach r-controlled vowels!  She is going to be one of the choices at word work station--the kids will use the magnetic words to label her with super words.  I also made an identical workpage (just much, much smaller!) for the kids to practice spelling the words on the labels!

A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.!!! My wonderful grandmother's name was Fern. I think that would be a fantastic name for her!

Your class must have the same reading series as my daughter's first grade class. Every skill you post, my daughter has done the week before.

I love ALL of your ideas! You are sooo creative. Where did you get the pictures of Fern and the quints? Did you draw them or did you find clip art somewhere?

My kids are struggling with R-controlled vowels right now - I'll be stealing this idea - thanks ;)

In your center did you give the students a choice of words? Some that didn't fit and those that do so that they have to make a decision?
I love this idea. I am a big fan of centers like this, they are portable and engaging and can be used for ever!
