12 years later, and I still get butterflies on Meet the Teacher night. I love meeting a new group, but its such a busy night trying to meet all my new littles, have meaningful first conversations with everyone AND their parents, while also answering questions, and helping to organize supplies--it can be a bit overwhelming! So, I work pretty much up to a week before the big night, getting copies made, name tags ready, folders put together, and supply signs posted to help parents know where to place supplies. Getting all of this ready prior to the day of Meet the Teacher takes SO much stress off of me!
The photo above was taken last year, right before Meet the Teacher. I like to have the lights down low, parent folders ready, a sweet little treat waiting on desks for my new first grade friends, and pleasant music playing softly in the background.
Inside parent folders, I have transportation labels they will fill out for the first few days of school. At dismissal time, I simply take the tag the parent filled out, and stick it to the kid's shirt. It definitely helps me to double (sometimes triple) check how they are getting home. #teacherprobs #ocd
The folders also have a student information form and volunteer form. These are filled out and left with me that night, so that I am able to begin my email list or contact parents before the first day of school if needed. I print on colored paper and add these pages to my student information binder to keep it all in one place. ------------Click HERE to grab your free download!
The folders also include an envelope filled with jitter glitter for my students to take home and open the night before first grade (you can find this under the FREEBIE tab at the top of the blog.
I hope these little freebies will be useful for you in planning for your own Meet the Teacher night!
