Super Readers

You may have heard of Superman, but have you heard of Super Reader?  The Super Reader is a hero who finishes 5 reading logs during the month (which is the equivalent of 100 books)! For being so super and reading so much, the Super Reader is given the "Super Reader Cheer", and is presented with a Super Reader headband, a fantastic Super Reader recognition (colored by Mrs. Cooley!) and wears the Super Reader emblem around his or her neck!  I was inspired by this idea from my wonderful sister-in-law Cindy--she and her team teacher do something similar to this in their Kindergarten classroom!  Parents, please keep encouraging your child to read at home!  I would love to have a whole class full of Super Readers each month!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this - I LOVE when something so simple makes me SO happy. I do have a favor to ask...I'm drawing-challenged. Do you have those in a file to share? I know, I know - I'm being lazy..but I just thought if you did...

Okay, you need to send me the cheer! Your little "Super Reader" is cute! This has worked like a charm in our classroom. Parents ask us about it all the time. We have already had a few students that have been "super reader" 3 times this school year. That is over 300 books!! It is easy and cheap!! And, the kids feel so special all day long!
